What is Sup Club: We’re thrilled to kick off a series of staged readings celebrating everything we can’t fit into our regular season–and you’re invited! These readings will be open to the community–from play selection, to production, and, of course, a one-night-only performance. Find out more and sign up to get involved in future staged readings at https://www.sullivantheater.com/supclub.
A traditional “supper club” is a group of friends who gather to enjoy dinner and good conversation on a regular basis. Sullivan Theater is excited to put a spin on this concept (hence, the abbreviated name SUP Club), with an emphasis on providing a space for friends in the community to gather between major productions and enjoy some food for the soul in the reading of a play. "S.U.P." stands for Series of Unproducable Plays.
How to RSVP: Click here (https://ci.ovationtix.com/36845/store/donations/55098) to donate $5 or more as a way of RSVP’ing to the event and supporting both Sullivan Theater and the playwright! Your donation will help us produce both main season shows and future Sup Club readings. Thank you!
Synopsis: Sam Steiner's Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons explores how a couple communicate, along with ideas about censorship, oppression and free speech. The play comprises a series of scenes, presented non-chronologically, between Bernadette and Oliver, who first meet in a cat cemetery and soon move in together. Oliver's past relationship with the unseen Julie arouses feelings of jealousy and inadequacy in Bernadette, while the latter’s job as a divorce lawyer presents problems for Oliver. But things become more complicated when the government introduces a draconian hush law giving everyone a daily limit of just 140 words each. For a while the two of them come up with ways to communicate with each other within the constraints of the law, but they soon find that without words and the freedom to use them, they're powerless.
NOTE: This staged-reading is rated R for mature themes and some strong language. This staged reading series will serve as a way for the community to explore and discuss work that may not otherwise be produced in our area–whether it’s for thematic reasons, practical staging obstacles, or just because it isn’t a good commercial option. Our hope is that these shows may find a home on our stage so that they may be enjoyed and considered by our theater-loving community, as well as encourage conversations about what makes a play “producable” in a community theater setting. |

10:30 PM |
Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame showcases the film’s Academy Award-nominated score, as well as new songs by Menken and Schwartz. Peter Parnell’s new book embraces story theatre and features verbatim passages from Hugo’s gothic novel.
The musical begins as the bells of Notre Dame sound through the famed cathedral in fifteenth-century Paris. Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer who longs to be "Out There," observes all of Paris reveling in the Feast of Fools. Held captive by his devious caretaker, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, he escapes for the day and joins the boisterous crowd, only to be treated cruelly by all but the beautiful Romani woman, Esmeralda. Quasimodo isn’t the only one captivated by her free spirit, though – the handsome Captain Phoebus and Frollo are equally enthralled. As the three vie for her attention, Frollo embarks on a mission to destroy the Roma – and it’s up to Quasimodo to save them all.
A sweeping score and powerful story make The Hunchback of Notre Dame an instant classic. Audiences will be swept away by the magic of this truly unforgettable musical.
This performance of The Hunchback of Notre Dame is rated PG-13 and may not be suitable for younger audiences. The production contains mature themes, including depictions of discrimination, religious conflict, and power-based violence as well as scenes that may include intense emotional content. Parental guidance is strongly recommended. |

In a Western territory just after the turn of the 20th century, a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background for Curly, a charming cowboy, and Laurey, a feisty farm girl, to play out their love story. Their romantic journey, as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road, contrasts with the comic exploits of brazen Ado Annie and hapless Will Parker in a musical adventure embracing hope, determination and the promise of a new land.
Performances will run June 13th through 22nd.
Performances will be at 7:30pm on Thursdays-Saturdays & at 2:00pm on Sundays.

Called “the funniest farce ever written,” Noises Off by Michael Frayn presents a manic menagerie of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called "Nothing’s On." Doors slamming, on and offstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.
The play opens with a touring company dress-rehearsing "Nothing On," a conventional farce and then takes audiences through opening and closing a run of the show, with all of the on-stage and off-stage confusion that comes along with it! Mixing mockery and homage, Frayn heaps into this play-within-a-play a hilarious melée of stock characters and situations.
