Swine Palace begins the season with Pulitzer Prize finalist, Gloria by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. Taking place in modern-day Manhattan, it starts on a normal work day for a group of aspiring writers who are growing tired of the monotony of their desk jobs. Dean stumbles in hungover from a party at the home of the 'office freak', Gloria, the night prior. As the day goes on, everyone goes about their business, though tensions are high with a dispute over who should be allowed to write a story on a deceased singer, and Gloria begins to act stranger than usual. In a sudden shift in tone, Gloria shoots and kills many workers, including Miles and Ani, leaving Dean, Kendra, Nan, and Lorin alive. The story then follows the fallout of each character's life as they try to cope with the stress of witnessing the events and feud over who deserves a book deal based on the events of the shooting. |

It’s due tomorrow, and the problem is... she can’t find a pen! One girl’s procrastination helps her meet her extraordinary brownstone neighbors, and connect with quirky and caring community around her. |

Travel back in time to New Orleans in 1805, in a unique concert event that brings together classical musical performance, innovative humanities scholarship and cutting-edge technology!
Presented by the LSU Center for French and Francophone Studies, the 1805 Concert is a unique recital of arias from the French comic operas popular in Louisiana at the turn of the nineteenth century, performed live in a digitally-enabled acoustical environment that restitutes the soundscape of a massive theatre proposed for the New Orleans waterfront in 1805.
Building doors open at 6:30 to allow spectators to explore the reconstructed Opera House in the DMC XR Studio, the 2024 Department of French Studies Senior Seminar collaborative project on life in Territorial New Orleans, as well as the undergraduate-led New Orleans Historic Theater Database Project.
Please see the dedicated event page for more information: https://www.lsu.edu/cffs/1805project/1805project.php
In conjunction with the 1805 Concert, CFFS is delighted to present a Symposium on Performance Cultures of Territorial Louisiana on September 26 at 4:30pm in the DMC Theatre.
