Ranging from the beloved to the obscure, the carefully selected two-dozen songs hang from a framework of in-depth video interviews, delving into Sondheim's personal life and artistic process.
Far from the typical song cycle, Sondheim on Sondheim has massive theatrical potency, as well as inarguable staying power. The incomparable James Lapine brilliantly curated a collection of songs that have been masterfully arranged by David Loud.

About the Pilot:
Enter the life of former LAPD, Dt. Bronson Fields, a slightly overweight and passive hostage negotiator given a second chance to take crime off the streets of Los Angeles. Bronson marches to the beat of his own drum while his partner Detective Teri Slaughter, an ex-marine also removed from the force due to her unorthodox crime solving methods, attempts to keep them constantly in pursuit.
is moments missing his wife who's finishing a nursing degree while raising their daughter in Baton Rouge, Louisiana are usually interrupted by his nosey know it all secretary looking to socialize. Fields can't even find solace in the men's room before being dragged out and on to the next case. Crime after crime, Dt. Fields uses wit and charisma on the job with his famous putting the gun down to reason with the criminals act and when he travels home to Louisiana and has to answer to his wife and daughter.

This FREE event is part of the many fun activities featured with the Downtown Festival of Lights throughout North Boulevard Town Square. Presented by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge
We play some of our favorite, family friendly, Christmas Specials on our large screen.
Our Full Bar will be open in the Hartley/Vey Studio serving snacks, hot chocolate, popcorn, soft drinks, and ADULT BEVERAGES. All beverages (including alcohol) are allowed “to go” and can be enjoyed while you walk around the many outdoor festivities.

The Muppet Christmas Carol (G) (1992)
The Muppets perform the classic Dickens holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine). Other Muppets -- Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear and Sam the Eagle -- weave in and out of the story, while Scrooge receives visits from spirits of three Christmases -- past, present and future. They show him the error of his self-serving ways, but the miserable old man seems to be past any hope of redemption and happiness.

Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears return with their most subversive record to date: an exploration of the sordid trappings of ego, isolation, consumption, waste, and war. Sonically inspired by the Hill Country blues, cowpunk, and the southern soul of Stax, this album charts new territory with a heavy stream of lyrical consciousness. This is The Difference Between Me & You.
The Difference is influenced by Lewis’ first decade on the road, embodying a deep repertoire of sounds and drawing from: the heavy grooves of Albert King, the punked-up blues of R.L. Burnside, the storytelling of Bobby “Blue” Bland, and the soulfully layered horns of the Stones. No one’s sound holds more weight than the next; all are all omnipresent throughout.
The Difference Between Me & You is the band’s fifth studio album. And while it’s an approach that might veer slightly from the typical sounds those who’ve followed the band are used to hearing, it was a conscious step in a new direction for Lewis. When asked, Lewis says he wanted to “make a more complex and reflective record” than he had before.

Tommy Prine picked up a guitar at age 10 and started picking melodies. Though he has crafted his own unique sound over the years, he learned from observing one of the best. Drivin’ n’ Cryin’ didn’t fit the template of a “Southern rock” band, but in a very real way they were a group that always wore the many facets of their Georgia heritage on their sleeve. Their sound was a passionate blend that encompassed the big guitars and booming drums of hard rock, the jangle of alternative rock, the acoustic sound and timeless mood of acoustic country and folk, and the literate but unpretentious lyrics of frontman and key songwriter Kevin Kinney.

Loaded .38s, space heaters, and big skies. Welcome to the lethal, littered landscape of Jim Heath’s imagination. True to his high evangelical calling, Jim is a Revelator, both revealing and reinterpreting the country-blues-rock roots of American music. He’s a time-travelling space-cowboy on an endless interstellar musical tour, and we are all the richer and “psychobillier” for getting to tag along.
REVEREND HORTON HEAT have been the outlet of this creative mind for 29 years, leading to 10 full-length albums, 3 “best-of” collections, 2 DVD releases and thousands of memorable live performances. Never reaching platinum status or having a #1 radio single hasn't been a problem for the Rev either, the band has continually been a mainstay of late night television and has toured with legendary acts such as Johnny Cash, Motorhead, Marilyn Manson, The Ramones, and many more, all of whom hold the Rev in the highest regard, as a true music industry legend.
With opening guest artists: Joecephus And The George Jonestown Massacre, a rock n' roll band from Memphis. The Dixie Fried Rock band Joecephus and the George Jonestown Massacre (JGJM) are on a roll. At the age of fifteen Joey Killingsworth aka Joecephus began his professional music career one night playing drums -- backing up his father, the venerable rockabilly legend Bobby “Bo Jack” Killingsworth, Jumpin’ Gene Simmons (known for his novelty hit ‘Haunted House’) and Carrie Lewis who was pregnant with Jerry Lee’s son at the time. In the 90s he began playing around Memphis regularly with the band Grendel Crane and at the turn of the century began working steadily with another rockabilly legend Eddie Bond. In the 2000's he played guitar for a run of shows with Black Oak Arkansas and has also backed Shooter Jennings and 80's metal legend Thor.
He carries the lessons learned on the road with Bond to this day. Now, as leader,
guitarist and frontman for JGJM, who have been referred to as “a cross between
Motorhead and Merle Haggard”, he keeps up a workmanlike pace of touring and
recording with the band. The band has made nine studio releases over the past sixteen years and can be heard regularly on Sirius XM Satellite Radio. The charity albums he has co-produced with Dik LeDoux have featured a stunning array of guest artists including Jello Biafra, Neil Fallon (Clutch), King Buzzo (Melvins), Mick Harvey and Warren Ellis (both of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds) and dozens of other recognizable names.
As a live act the band have shared the stage with artists as diverse as Johnny Winter, Shooter Jennings, Blackberry Smoke, Mike Watt, Antiseen and many more.
Joecephus and his band which includes Dik LeDoux and Rudy Forster (member of 90s road warriors Blackbone) are bringing their full auditory assault to any venue that can take it. |

From the traditional jazz sounds of New Orleans and percussive swing of French hot club style to the sway of bossa nova and rhythm-heavy jump blues, this show explores songs made famous by great artists of the time, including Fats Waller, Ella Fitzgerald, Django Reinhart, and Louis Prima.
This band is made up of exceptional local talent, bringing together some of the best musicians from Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Get to know the talented members of the band below.
Ashley Orlando: Jazz vocalist, ukulele artist, and charisma coach who uses music to help people find their voice and connect with joy. Classically trained soprano turned jazz lover, picked up ukulele five years ago to explore new creative avenues.
Mike Esneault: Emmy-winning composer, Grammy-recognized arranger, keyboardist, and Louisiana Hall of Fame educator. Works featured on programs like NCIS New Orleans, American Idol, FOX Sports. Collaborated with Stevie Wonder, Nas, and Jill Scott.
Doug Stone: Versatile jazz saxophonist, improviser, and composer with recordings as a leader and co-leader. In-demand musician in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, playing with groups like The John Mahoney Septet and Facing West Quartet.
Brian Breen: Skilled guitarist proficient in jazz, rock, blues, folk, and Celtic styles. Played in orchestra pits for many musicals, now focused on jazz vocal duo with Ashley Orlando, solo jazz guitar performance, and small group jazz.
John Jones: Accomplished musician, producer, and arranger experienced in Gospel, Jazz, Latin, Funk, and R&B. Toured internationally, performed with many musical greats. Currently Director of Music at Mount Zion First Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA.
Don Vappie: an American tenor banjoist/guitarist from New Orleans. A lifelong musician, Don also performs as a bassist and vocalist. He is an educator, lecturer, and expert not only about New Orleans jazz but its place and importance in the contemporary music scene.With 8 albums as a leader Vappie brings Crescent City traditions to practically everything he touches.

Mia Jackson, a native of Columbus, GA, started her stand up career in Atlanta. Now living in New York, Mia performs regularly around the city when not on the road. In 2022, she was one of the openers for Amy Schumer’s national tour. She has written for Life & Beth (Hulu) and I Love Us (BET+). A true multi-hyphenate, Mia’s delightful Georgia accent landed her a voiceover role as the narrator for My Celebrity Dream Wedding (VH1). She has half hour comedy specials on MGM+ and Comedy Central. Mia's smart, funny, relatable material entertains all types of crowds. |

We're excited to introduce local comedians and openers for our @danst.germain comedy show this Thursday! Get ready to laugh with Baton Rouge comedians, Terance Delaine and Will Merrill in the Hartley/Vey Studio!
Terence Delaine has opened for comedians like Chris Kattan, Preacher Lawson, Sean Patton, and Mark Normand. He is also a member of NO SHOW Comedy group. He is featured on (and helped produced) the group's compilation album, “NO SHOW Comedy, A Louisiana Comedy Album"!
Will Merrill has been performing across the gulf coast since 2010. His debut comedy album "Wirk" premiered in the top 5 on iTunes in 2019! He also hosts a talk show called The Late Shift, which just wrapped its fourth season.

Quamon Fowler, a husband for over two decades and father of two, isn’t just a musician – he’s a maestro of melody and faith. For over three decades, his saxophone and ewi have woven a tapestry of sound, nourishing souls and elevating hearts with enchanting melodies and uplifting messages. His journey, rich in passion and commitment, has yielded nine musical projects, including the recent “You’re My Protection” (2023). Beyond music, Quamon’s 2015 book, “The Christian Musician,” continues to inspire with its insights into faith and artistic success. (And the audiobook arrived in 2020, bringing his words to life in a new way.) Quamon’s name resonates, not just for his technical mastery, but for the emotional power he wields. His notes aren’t just sounds; they’re pathways to soul-stirring experiences and heavenly realms. In him, music becomes a bridge, connecting listeners to something beyond themselves. |

Jon Langford is a Welsh-born musician and visual artist best known as a founding member of the punk band The Mekons and the alternative country collective The Waco Brothers. A pioneer in merging art and music, Langford’s visual work is featured—alongside Jim Sherraden and the iconic Nashville-based Hatch Show Print—in the LSU Museum of Art's current exhibition Carved & Crafted: The Art of Letterpress.
