Vertical Horizon released three albums independently (There and Back Again, Running on Ice, and Live Stages) and toured extensively before signing with RCA Records in 1998. In 1999, they released their breakout album, Everything You Want, which went on to sell more than two million copies. The second single off the CD, the title track Everything You Want, captured the #1 spot on Billboards Hot 100 and Adult Top 40 charts, and became Billboards Most Played Single of 2000. Having carved out a page in the annals of music history the band garnered further radio attention with Youre a God (#4 on Billboards Adult Chart) and Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning). In 2005, Best I Ever Had became a top 20 country hit for country star Gary Allan.Their follow-up album, Go, was released in 2003 and solidified the band as a no-nonsense pop rock entity. Eventually, the band took a hiatus to pursue individual interests. In 2007, feeling the time was right to start working on a new album, Matt began composing the songs which would eventually become Burning the Days. The album was released in 2009 on Vertical Horizons own label, Outfall Records. One of the songs, Even Now, was co-written by Scannell with his close friend Neil Peart, the much-heralded drummer from Rush. Peart played drums on that song as well as two other tracks on the record. Burning the Days was critically acclaimed and produced two Hot AC radio singles, Save Me from Myself and The Lucky One. In 2013, Vertical Horizon released Echos From the Underground, named after a lyric from the song Evermore.In addition to writing and producing songs for Vertical Horizon, Matt has spent the past few years writing songs with and for other artists. In 2010, he wrote Wish You Were Here for the band Hey Monday, featuring lead singer Cassadee Pope, who went on to win season 3 of NBCs hit show The Voice. In 2012, Scannell teamed up with Daniel Powter to write Come Back Home, which was used to promote NBCs Chicago Fire. Scannell and Grammy-winning songwriter/producer Richard Marx collaborate often and sometimes play acoustic duo shows together. They co-wrote Marxs 2012 AC hit When You Loved Me, which reached number 15 on the Adult Contemporary Chart.

Come one Come all the Debbie Landry Benefit Jam. As many of you know, Debbie has been a beloved member of the Baton Rouge area music scene for a long time, and is currently undergoing a serious medical issue which has taken away her ability to play shows and racked up medical cost. Her husband and another area music legend, Blayne, has missed work as well, so let's step up and help out!
Red Stick Social has been kind enough to waive the venue fee, so no outside food or drinks, purchase from them as a way to say thanks. It is free to enter as we want people through the door and donations can be made by cash, check, Venmo or Paypal, purely whatever one wants to give. Also, this is an all ages event, so bring the kids.
Blayne's band, ReGeneration, will be the "host band". Drums, amps, etc will be provided. Bring your guitar / bass and come play. In terms of how long anyone will play just depends on how the night goes. If your full band is there, we'll get you in, step in and jam with friends, play solo. No matter if you currently play or it's been a while, a fun, no pressure scene. We want everyone who wants to play to have the opportunity.
We are also working on a silent auction at the venue to help raise money as well. This should be a big event to both support a great person and hang with many of our locally talented musicians. |

Join us for our New Year’s eve celebration. We will be featuring the ReGeneration band this year. We will be selling two different options for bracelets. A gold bracelet will include entry for the band, all you can eat food, unlimited mixed drinks with select alcohol, and unlimited import and domestic beer. The price for this gold bracelet will be $50. The second option will be a silver bracelet, which will include entry for the band, and unlimited food. You will also receive one ticket for one mixed drink or beer of your choice. The price for the silver bracelet will be $25. We will be serving, seafood, gumbo, sushi, prime rib, several dips, sandwich, trays, shrimp and cocktail sauce, cheese trays, vegetable trays, fruit trays, and many other delectables and sweet treats for everyone to enjoy. The liquor list will include Crown Royal, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Tito’s, Absolut, José Cuervo, Seagrams Gin, Captain Morgan, and Bacardi. All shots and specialty drinks will be paid for individually. We will have a limited amount of bracelets for sale. They are also holding a special celebration for Walker High people who recently turned, or will soon turn, 50! That of course means tons of 90's rock for those mid 1990's graduates.
